Further east on Olive Street, as one moves away from SLU, neglect and second-string useage become common. Many of the buildings have undergone multiple remodelings over the years.

Next to a group of buildings conjoined at the base stands a vacant lot, with a precariously reconstructed (or left in place?) cast-iron facade floating in front of it.

Amid all the flat-roofed commercial buildings, 2823 Olive stands out. A gabled roof, shutters, bay windows, a cast iron fence, and a front lawn all mark it as a domestic building in a largely industrial and commercial zone.
