1528 Locust Street
Architect: LaBeaume & Klein
A massive YMCA complex, one of the biggest when it was built; it originally contained 6 floors of dormitories in addition to 2 gyms, a pool, handball courts, lounges and a cafeteria. The upper floors became retirement housing in 1977.
The building is clad in a Renassance style faintly inspired by the palaces of Florence, with a massive, seemingly impenetrable ground floor and smaller rows of windows above.
