Top: The Turnverien sets the archtectural tone of the neighborhood. Mansard roofs are common, such as this
commanding building just to the east at the corner of Blair and Salisbury. The collapse of the dormer window has happened
within the last four years. January 2003.
January 2003: Another duplicate image from St. Louis: Landmarks and Historic Districts, p. 150, the 1300 block of Salisbury.
The two buildings wrapped by the ceramic-tiled ground floor survived at this late date; everything beyond them is gone, lost to freeway construction and one of its attendants: a gas station.
The buildings shown here were demolished in 2005, to allow the gas station to expand further.
