Recalled to Life: A Tour of Restored Buildings

In the mid-1990s, the preservation scene in St. Louis appeared almost hopeless. Abandoned buildings abounded, and many were falling to the wrecking ball in a seemingly endless stream. It seemed very little could be done to stem the tide of "progress".

There have been a number of victories, however -- buildings that have been renovated, rehabbed, and in some cases, saved from impending demolition. Some are still in progress; others have been completed. All, however, point to the city's slow but steady revival.
