Recalled to Life
In the mid-1990s, the preservation scene in St. Louis appeared almost hopeless. Buildings were falling to the wrecking ball in a seemingly endless stream, and very little could be done to stem the tide of "progress".
More recently, however, there have been a number of victories -- buildings that have been renovated, rehabbed, and in some cases, saved from impending demolition. Some are still in progress; others have been completed. All, however, point to the city's slow but steady revival.
