Built St. Louis > > On the Road in New Orleans

Lake Forest Plaza
Photographs from December 28, 2006

In the immediate surroundings stand several apartment complexes. Most of them were abandoned when we visited; they have suffered tremendous damage -- some of which appears to have been from before the hurricanes.

This batch stands west of the mall.

One fears that replacement housing in New Orleans might take the form of relatively flimsy construction like this, hardly worth salvaging in the wake of a hurricane and flooding.

Nearby, a row of tidy homes stands, with a few FEMA trailers out front indicating that they have not been abandoned.
