St. John's United Methodist Church
5000 Washington - Central West End
Architect:

Stained Glass: Emil Frei Studio
Design: Rodney Winfield, ca. 1960

This NeoClassical church features some unusual windows inside - not truly modern, definitely not historicist, yet totally harmonious with the interior. The glass is in low-key tones, unbroken by leading, with the figures applied in black paint.

The Holy Corners Historic District nomination form lists the artist as Rodney Winfield, with an additional window by Siegfried Reinhardt. However, the style strongly resembles that used by Reinhardt in his 1960 baptistry window at St. Joan of Arc.
