Central Neighborhoods: West
With a bit of doubling back and winding along an abandoned gravel road, you'll find yourself underneath the railroad approaches for the MacArthur bridge, south of the Casino Queen and the Poplar Street Bridge.

The car deck was closed in the early 1980s and rendered uncrossable after a section was removed in 1989. But the approach to it is still accessible via an unmended fence. You can see the missing section by taking Highway 40 (aka Interstate 64) to Illinois and getting off at the very first exit after the river.

Falling Springs Road at 13th - August 2001.

This flat-roofed building, located on a nameless gravel road wandering into the wilds underneath the MacArthur Bridge approaches near 14th Street and Russell Avenue, had burned down by 2005.
