WS Hotel and Spa
Originally: Kennard and Sons Carpet Company
Architect: Isaac Taylor
Built as the offices of a carpet manufacturer, this deliciously ornamented Italian Renaissance building later became home to Edison Brothers shoe company, which lasted into the 1990s. It underwent a $6 million rehab and reopened as the WS on Washington hotel in 2000, later changed to the WS Hotel and Spa.
