Built St. Louis
South City: Soulard

One's path from the Farmers' Market naturally flows southward, and here a visitor uncovers one of Soulard's most delightful aspects: there is no single main street. Soulard's proliferation of bars and taverns make it a destination for the whole city, but there is no one spot where they are all located. Business, church and home are truly integrated here. The result is that one can visit many times and constantly discover new and delightful corners and streets.

Though Soulard lacks a central commercial street, 8th Street may well be the top contender for neighborhood spokesman. No other street puts Soulard's charm so fully on display.

8th Street's most prominent landmark is the steeple of Trinity Lutheran Church.
