The Mark Twain Hotel
(Originally Maryland Hotel, later Baltimore Hotel)
205 N. 9th Street
Built: 1907
Architect: Albert B. Groves
Status: renovated, 1995-2000; still in use as a residential hotel.

The exterior contains sumptuous terra cotta ornament, making it one of the most heavily decorated buildings downtown. Within, it provides housing at weekly rates -- an unfortunate rarity today.
