Nearby, the intersection of Olive and Taylor houses a modest but appealing commercial district. Abandonment and cheap renovation had plagued the district; the area collapsed about the same time as nearby Gaslight Square. In addition to the buildings shown here, the Eugene Field School building also stands nearby.
