College Avenue leads to a cluster of neighborhood institutions at its northern end, including the Sisters of Mount Grace Convent of Perpetual Adoration (home of "the Pink Sisters"), the St. James Community Center, a church, and a school.

Notably absent from them, however, is any sort of college. The neighborhood takes its name from the St. Louis University College Farm, which operated here from the 1830s through the 1870s.
