The streets around the empty Falstaff brewery are very run down; at a guess, the neighborhood's fortunes fell when the brewery closed.
Battered stores along Tulane Avenue. Water lines from the flood are visible at about 5-6 feet above the ground.
Heading back into the CBD along Tulane Avenue. The 1907 Dixie Brewery stands at left; the facility has been closed since Katrina, which innundated it with nine feet of water. Since then, looters have systematically stripped the plant's equipment. Dixie Brewing Company has resumed operations elsewhere and hopes to return to their old building.
