St. Peter Catholic Church
243 West Argonne Drive, Kirkwood - west County
Architect: Joseph Murphy,1951
Stained Glass: Emil Frei Stained Glass Company
Designed by: Francis Deck
The bulk of the stained glass is in Deco-influenced forms, designed by Francis Deck (a member of the church) and executed by his employer the Emil Frei Stained Glass Company; the windows encircling the sanctuary depict the story of the Catholic Mass. The windows are lightest in shade toward the back of the sanctuary, with deeper and more brilliant colors at the altar.
A grand design was planned to replace the transparent windows over the entry facade, but was never executed.
The windows were restored in fall of 2007, with Frei Studios again performing the work, along with new protective exterior panels.
