The Record Exchange
originally the Buder Branch of the St. Louis Public Library
5320 Hampton Avenue - south City
Architect: ?
Date: 1961
A landmark for Hampton Avenue, the building is remarkable not only for the elegant golden aluminum brackets, but also for the intact state of its accessory grounds lighting and railings.
Local music vendors the Record Exchange purchased the building in 1999 and converted it to the area's most massive collection of used vinyl, tapes, and CDs. The interior has been redecorated in a somewhat shocking contrast of bold yellow and black.
